Repairing mistakes and building self-trust don’t have to involve self-punishment. With compassion and structure, you can take responsibility, grow, and trust yourself more deeply.

Understanding Guilt, Shame, and Self-Trust

Guilt focuses on behavior “I did something wrong,” while shame attacks identity “I am wrong.” Shame keeps us stuck, hiding from ourselves and others. Self-trust, on the other hand, is believing you can care for yourself consistently, follow through on intentions, and show up reliably even when life feels messy.
